About Me

Here are a few things you might want to know about me:

  • I Love My Work

I am deeply passionate about helping others to know themselves better and love themselves more.  I have a natural interest and curiosity about human emotions; that is what led me to become a therapist, and it is also what inspires me to continue learning and growing, helping others to feel better about themselves.

  • I am a qualified therapist

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 54000) with a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from The California Institute of Integral Studies.  I have been working in the mental health field for over 15 years and have been seeing clients in a private practice setting since 2007.  I am also a trained supervisor and provide clinical supervision to therapists in training who are not yet licensed.

  • I will help you to discover your true intentions

Each of us may develop negative patterns and habits, but they all stem from our desire to take care of ourselves.  No matter what difficulties you are struggling with, I will listen to you without judgment.  My approach is based on the assumption that all behavior is rooted in good intentions.  I will help you to acknowledge your own good intentions, however hidden they may seem, and use them as a means for cultivating self-compassion and adapting healthier strategies for self-care.

  • I work collaboratively

It's important that you play an active role in your own healing.  That's my belief.  You already know, better than anyone else, what will make you feel fulfilled.  Therefore, I will not directly tell you what to do.  My job is to listen closely and guide you beyond the "should's" and "supposed to's" toward what really feels true to you.  Feeling empowered will not come from my opinion or advice.  It will come from our forming a safe, therapeutic relationship where you can learn to value all of your wants and needs; giving yourself permission to live the life that you deserve.  I will actively offer insight where I feel it might be relevant.  Ultimately, however, you get to decide what feels valuable and useful.  Our relationship will allow you to practice listening to your own internal voice, the voice that will ultimately guide you toward fulfillment.

  • The way I work will be unique to you

I offer all of my clients a calm presence, filled with warmth and compassion.  Depending on your unique needs, I am also trained in several different therapeutic modalities that I can apply to our work.  I have a clinical background in areas such as: depth psychology, EMDR, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, guided imagery, attachment theory and affective neuroscience.
